On behalf of our client, an innovative Software Development and System Integration company in the Defense & Space industry, we are looking for a talented Senior Java Engineer to join their software team, based in Athens.

A day in the life of a Java Engineer

You will be an expert in Software Development, and responsible for designing, testing, integrating, and documenting Software Modules and procedures. You must have the hunger to learn and pay attention to detail. Good communication skills and sharing your knowledge within a small team are a must-have.

Your day-to-day

• Performs detailed analyses of task(s) requirements
• Writes software development documents in accordance with the Company’s Engineering Documentation Standards
• Test and debug software with predefined test cases and verify predicted performance
• Perform code review
• Participate in the daily meetings
• Support test teams through the system integration and acceptance test phases
• Advise Company management regarding perceived and/or recognized problems with the performance of designed software and/or system development
• Support installation and check-out on-site and hotline service or warranty/upgrade works at the installed systems
• Mentor Engineers allow for skill and knowledge development through advice and coaching opportunities

What you will need

• Minimum 4+ years of experience in Java
• Advanced knowledge of SQL and NoSQL
• BSc or equivalent in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering
• A commitment to quality and a thorough approach to work
• Experience with microservice architectures
• Good interpersonal skills and ability to work within a scrum team

Great to have

• Experience with frontend development with ReactJS
• Good knowledge in Maven
• Rest service development with Spring Framework
