Chief Information Security Officer (CISO)

Our client is a major Greek energy and utilities group serving millions of households and operating critical national infrastructure.

With NIS2 now in force and digital operations expanding fast, security has become a board-level priority. The group is appointing a Chief Information Security Officer to own its security strategy, reporting directly to the executive board.

The Role

As CISO, you will define and lead the information security strategy across IT and operational technology. You will build and develop the security organisation and be accountable for risk, compliance and incident readiness.

A central part of the role is translating cyber risk into business language for the board and regulators.

In your first six months you will assess the group's security maturity, present a multi-year security roadmap with a clear budget and put in place the governance needed for NIS2 compliance.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and lead the group-wide information security strategy across IT and OT
• Build, structure and develop the security organisation
• Own cyber risk management, compliance and incident readiness
• Report on cyber risk to the executive board and engage with regulators
• Establish the governance framework required for NIS2 compliance
• Manage the security budget and key security vendors
• Lead the response to major security incidents
• Develop and deliver a multi-year security roadmap

What You'll Bring

• 12+ years of experience in information security, with at least 5 in a senior leadership role
• Proven track record of building security strategies and teams in large or regulated organisations
• Strong knowledge of frameworks and regulations such as ISO 27001, NIST CSF, NIS2 and GDPR
• Experience managing security budgets, vendors and major incident response
• Excellent communication skills and credibility at board and regulator level

Nice to Have

• CISSP, CISM or CRISC certification
• Experience securing OT/ICS environments in energy, utilities or manufacturing
• An MBA or similar business qualification
