Construction Manager

Construction Engineer
€3500 - €5500 / Monthly rate
Contract
Athens | Onsite

Our client is a project management consultancy providing integrated construction and engineering oversight for owners and developers across Greece. Acting as the Owner's Representative, the company manages the full project lifecycle: from design coordination through to project handover, ensuring projects are delivered on time, on budget, and to the highest standards of quality and safety.

The Role

As Construction Manager, you will act as the Owner's Representative on site, overseeing the physical execution of construction works and ensuring full compliance with approved designs, specifications, quality standards, budgets, and programme milestones.

Working closely with the Project Manager, design consultants, main contractors, and client stakeholders, you will serve as the primary point of contact for all site activities. The role combines technical oversight with strong leadership, ensuring robust project controls and contractual compliance across civil, structural, MEP, and finishing works.

This is an opportunity to take ownership of complex projects from active construction through to handover and commissioning, with real influence over quality, safety, and delivery outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day construction activities across all disciplines, acting as principal liaison with the main contractor and subcontractors
  • Conduct regular site inspections, chair progress and technical coordination meetings, and monitor workmanship and compliance with drawings and specifications
  • Track progress against the approved programme, manage critical path activities, and report weekly and monthly progress to the Project Manager and client
  • Implement the project Quality Management Plan, review contractor ITPs and Method Statements, and manage NCRs, punch lists, and defect registers through to closure
  • Champion a safety-first culture, ensuring compliance with Greek and EU HSE legislation, and conduct regular HSE inspections and audits
  • Administer the construction contract on behalf of the client, reviewing claims, variation orders, RFIs, and contractor payment applications
  • Monitor site expenditure against budget, flagging cost risks and maintaining an auditable instruction and variation log
  • Coordinate handover and commissioning, including as-built documentation, O&M manuals, final inspections, and completion certification

What You'll Bring

  • 8 -10 years of experience in construction or site management, ideally on the owner/consultancy side rather than solely with a contractor
  • Degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related construction discipline
  • Proven experience managing medium-to-large-scale construction projects
  • Familiarity with FIDIC contract conditions and standard construction procurement frameworks
  • Proficiency in construction scheduling software (Primavera P6, MS Project, or equivalent)
  • Strong command of construction drawings, specifications, and technical documentation
  • Working knowledge of Greek building regulations and permitting processes
  • Fluent Greek and professional-level English

Nice to Have

  • Postgraduate qualification in Project Management (MSc, PMP, RICS, or equivalent)
  • Experience across multiple sectors (residential, commercial, hospitality, mixed-use)
  • Familiarity with document management systems such as Procore or Aconex

What's in It for You

€3,500 – €5,500 Gross / Month, depending on experience, with B2B contract (12 salaries per year). The company also provides private insurance.

You would be a part of experience engineering team, lead on-site execution across multiple sectors, including residential, commercial, hospitality, and mixed-use developments.

This is a senior, high-responsibility role suited to someone who thrives in a fast-paced site environment and wants to represent the client's interests at the heart of the build, with good growth opportunities.
