Greece | Hybrid

Our client, a global fintech company operating in online trading and financial services, is seeking a Data Architect to join its team based in Athens or Thessaloniki on a hybrid basis, with fully remote work available for candidates located elsewhere in Greece.

The Role
As Data Architect, you will lead the design, evolution, and governance of data architecture across the organization. You will work closely with functional groups and technology leaders to translate business needs into scalable, well-structured data solutions, provide best-practice guidance on data management and modeling, and ensure data platforms remain robust, efficient, and aligned with strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop conceptual, logical, and physical data models, covering structure, semantics, constraints, and alignment to business meaning, as well as physical design considerations such as indexing and partitioning
  • Define and maintain reference and target data architectures, including standards and reusable patterns, across operational systems, event/streaming platforms, and analytical environments (data warehouse/lakehouse)
  • Drive architectural decision-making and trade-offs (consistency, performance, scalability, cost, operability, security) and contribute to documentation practices that capture and govern those decisions
  • Support the implementation of the organizational data strategy, including database design standards, data warehouse architecture, and analytics platform integration
  • Assist with the deployment and extension of the Enterprise Data Catalogue
  • Contribute to the creation and maintenance of architecture processes and documentation standards
  • Work as an embedded contributor with project teams, guiding schema design, physical design choices, data access patterns, and query optimization through design reviews and delivery
  • Advise project teams on the end-to-end data product lifecycle, from platform selection through testing and implementation
  • Govern changes to architectural artefacts and ensure systems conform to established data architecture guidelines
  • Define data flows and integration patterns across applications and services, covering operational systems, streams, and analytical platforms (batch and real-time), with clear ownership and information dissemination patterns

What You'll Bring

  • BSc/MSc in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
  • At least 3 years of experience in data modeling, data engineering, database design, or data architecture
  • Strong expertise in conceptual, logical, and physical data modeling, with solid SQL skills
  • Proficiency in Python for data-related work such as automation, prototyping, validation, data quality checks, and tooling around pipelines and integrations
  • Experience with cloud-based data platforms and modern data warehouse or lakehouse architectures
  • Good understanding of software development lifecycles, requirements analysis, and technical design best practices
  • Exposure to data governance, metadata management, and data quality frameworks
  • Confidence in advising on ETL/ELT patterns, data integration solutions, and data orchestration technologies
  • A collaborative approach, with the ability to build trusted relationships across business and technical teams
  • A proactive, self-driven mindset and comfort working in agile environments

Nice to Have

  • Experience with graph databases, vector databases, or semantic search capabilities
  • Familiarity with feature stores or related ML/AI data architectures

What's in it for You
€4,000 to €5,200 gross/month, along with the flexibility to work on a hybrid basis from the Athens or Thessaloniki office, or fully remotely from anywhere in Greece. You will have the opportunity to shape enterprise-level data architecture, influence key technical decisions, and work on data-centric initiatives that directly support business outcomes in a fast-paced, international environment.
