Design director

On behalf of our client, leading multidisciplinary architecture and engineering firm based in the Middle East, delivering innovative, sustainable, and world-class design solutions across a wide range of sectors, we are looking for Design Director.

A day in the life of the Design Director

Design director would join one of the region’s leading architectural studios and shape some of the most iconic large-scale projects across Saudi Arabia. Lead innovation, elevate design quality, and mentor the next generation of architects.

Your day-to-day

• Lead the concept design of major projects: mixed-use developments, hotels, residential complexes, civic and institutional buildings.
• Work directly with senior clients to translate their vision into bold, functional, and future-ready design concepts.
• Guide the creative direction—sketching ideas, shaping narratives, and steering pre-concept to concept phases.
• Oversee project handover to the technical design team and safeguard design integrity throughout all phases.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams (architecture, structural, MEP, sustainability) to ensure seamless project delivery.
• Mentor and develop a talented team of 15–20 designers while championing a collaborative studio culture.

What you will need

• 25+ years of architectural experience, preferably in the GCC.
• A portfolio of high-profile or award-winning large-scale projects.
• Strong leadership skills and experience managing diverse, multidisciplinary teams.
• Proficiency in design and BIM tools (Revit, Rhino, SketchUp, Adobe Suite).
• Passion for innovation, sustainability, urban connectivity, and high-quality design.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Experience in thought leadership (panels, publications, academia) is a plus.
