Engineering Lead, Athens, Hybrid (3-2)

Our client is a fast-growing fintech company based in Athens (with offices also in London and Cyprus), on a mission to make smart saving and investing accessible to everyone across Europe. Their engineering organisation supports a product used by over 2 million customers across 10 markets. The role is open due to continued team growth and an expanding product roadmap.

The Role

You'll lead a mission-driven, cross-functional squad of backend and mobile engineers, working alongside Product Managers and Designers to deliver high-impact features and services. In your first six months, you'll embed into the team's ways of working, establish trust with your direct reports, and start driving measurable improvements in delivery outcomes and engineering standards.

• Proven experience leading cross-functional engineering teams, with a strong focus on outcomes and business impact
• Solid technical background with the ability to oversee architectural decisions, code reviews, and Agile processes
• Strong coaching and mentoring skills, with a track record of developing engineers at different career stages
• Effective communicator, able to simplify complex technical and organisational challenges for diverse stakeholders
• Experience collaborating closely with Product and Design to balance technical excellence with delivery pace
• Data-driven approach to planning and prioritisation, with the ability to build and sustain high-performing teams

Nice to Have

• Familiarity with fintech or consumer-facing product environments
• Experience managing the full lifecycle of distributed backend systems
• Knowledge of current tech trends relevant to the Kotlin/Spring Boot and Python/FastAPI ecosystem
