Java Software Engineer, Ag. Paraskevi, Hybrid (4-1)

Our client is a global industrial leader listed on the NYSE, operating in over 35 countries with a workforce of 11,000+. Their Athens Tech Hub is a strategic center of excellence where 80+ IT professionals drive high-impact projects supporting global operations. Due to strategic expansion in Greece, they are looking for a solid Java Software Engineer to join a high-performing team responsible for a business-critical international platform.

The Role

You will play a key role in the architectural evolution of our enterprise commercial platform, helping transform a legacy desktop suite into a cutting-edge, high-performance ecosystem.

While your primary foundation and day-to-day anchor will be in the Java backend, this role offers a deliberate path to becoming a well-rounded, modern developer. They are modernizing the front-end with React 18, and want someone eager to cross-train. You don't need to be a front-end expert today; you just need the technical curiosity to learn it.

You will enjoy the autonomy to learn, grow, and eventually own the full development lifecycle of a sophisticated global platform, integrating everything from complex backend logic to workflow automation, all while supported by an elite group of senior peers.

What You Will Bring

Looking for a strong backend foundation combined with a growth mindset:

• The Core (Java): 4+ years of professional experience focusing on back-end logic, system integrations, and performance. They primarily use Java 17.
• The Growth Path (React): You don't need to be a React master, but you must be eager to learn React 18+ on the job. They will give you the time, mentorship, and space to expand your skills into the front-end.
• Database Management: Strong SQL Server skills, specifically in writing and optimizing complex queries for data-heavy applications.
• API Fundamentals: Solid knowledge of RESTful design, consumption, and backend performance tuning.
• Modern DevOps: Hands-on experience with Git (GitLab/GitHub) and CI/CD pipeline management.
• Communication: Professional English is required for collaboration with our global teams.

Nice to Have

• Any prior exposure to JavaScript, React, or front-end frameworks (even if basic or from personal projects) is a huge plus.
• Experience with RabbitMQ or similar messaging systems.
• Experience navigating and modernizing monolithic environments.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools like GitHub Copilot.
