Operations Manager
€3200 - €3600 / Monthly rate
Permanent
N. Ionia

Our client, a leading IT & cybersecurity solutions and managed-services provider operating in the Greek market is looking for an Operations & Managed Services Manager to join their Athens-based team. The business supports large enterprise environments with mission-critical infrastructure, network security, and round-the-clock service operations.

At the heart of the business is a 24x7 managed-services and monitoring function that keeps environments healthy and available, backed by specialized teams across cloud, virtualization, and network security. The organization works in a modern, hybrid, and agile way, with a strong focus on developing its people.

This is a chance to lead and shape that managed-services operation, building structure, raising the bar on service quality, and growing a team of engineers into a high-performing unit.

The Role

As Operations & Managed Services Manager, you will own the overall management, performance, and continuous improvement of the 24x7 managed-services operations, ensuring services run reliably, SLAs and KPIs are met, and targets are consistently well served.

You will lead an in-house monitoring team alongside engineers placed on-site at various locations under a managed-services / outsourcing model. A central part of the role is people leadership: coaching and developing engineers (many at an early career stage), defining what to monitor and how, and bringing structure to daily operations. This is the single most important part of the job.

You will also be front-facing, running service reviews, presenting performance and SLA reports, and gathering feedback on the engineers deployed to each account. You'll own incident, problem, change, and escalation management, coordinate shift schedules and on-call coverage, and continuously improve how the operation runs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the 24x7 managed-services and monitoring operations
  • Manage both the in-house monitoring team and engineers deployed on-site
  • Coach, mentor, and develop engineers, and define training and career-development paths
  • Ensure compliance with contractual SLAs and operational KPIs.
  • Oversee incident, problem, change, and escalation management processes
  • Coordinate shift schedules, resource allocation, and on-call coverage for uninterrupted service
  • Build strong professional relationships, run service reviews, and present performance reports
  • Drive continuous improvement, automation, and service-standardization initiatives

What You'll Bring

  • A degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field
  • 5+ years of experience in network and security engineering
  • 2+ years in a team-lead, service-delivery, operations, or management role
  • Genuine people-management ability - the most important requirement for this role
  • Strong networking knowledge: BGP, OSPF, VLANs, NAT, and VPN technologies, working confidently at Layer 3 and above
  • Familiarity with High Availability architectures, load balancing, WAF, and network security
  • Experience with monitoring platforms such as Zabbix, PRTG, SolarWinds, or equivalent
  • A solid understanding of ITIL service-management processes
  • A proactive, dynamic mindset: someone who leads and builds rather than waits for instructions
  • Excellent command of Greek and English

Nice to Have

  • Certifications such as ITIL Foundation (or higher), CCNP, PCNSE, Check Point CCSA / CCSE, or F5
  • Experience within Managed Services, NOC, SOC, MSSP, or enterprise IT operations environments
  • Red Hat certifications (RHCSA, RHCE)

What's in It for You

€3,200 – €3,600 Gross / Month, depending on experience, along with a hybrid working model (3-2) that lets you split your time between home and the office seamlessly. Additional corporate benefits include an annual variable bonus scheme, a private group insurance program, and an integrated wellbeing platform supporting physical fitness and psychological health. You will also have full access to continuous professional training and industry-recognized certifications within a highly flexible and collaborative ecosystem.

This is a genuine leadership opportunity to take complete ownership of a 24x7 managed-services operation serving major enterprise environments, with the autonomy to bring structure, raise service quality, and shape how the function runs. The role offers the unique chance to build and develop a team from the ground up, work across a broad networking and security technology stack, and make a highly visible impact on the business.
