Senior AI Enginner
AI ArchitectOur client is a technology company transforming subscription commerce for IT distributors, Managed Service Providers (MSPs) and Telcos, who provides a scalable SaaS platform that automates critical processes across the subscription lifecycle, including quoting, ordering, provisioning, billing and customer management. The company operates internationally, supporting customers across multiple markets and processing more than one million invoices annually.
As the company continues to invest in AI-driven capabilities, we are looking for a Senior AI Engineer to join the team and take Generative AI solutions from early prototypes through to reliable, production-grade systems.
The Role
As a Senior AI Engineer, you will work hands-on across the full lifecycle of modern AI applications, combining strong software engineering with LLMs, RAG, agentic systems and AI infrastructure.
You’ll design and implement AI-powered capabilities that can operate within real-world business workflows, working closely with software engineers, product teams and other technical stakeholders.
Your work will include building retrieval-augmented generation pipelines, developing AI agents and tool integrations, integrating and optimising LLMs, and establishing the evaluation and observability practices required to operate AI systems reliably in production.
This is a highly hands-on engineering role for someone who enjoys turning emerging AI technologies into scalable, maintainable products rather than simply experimenting with models.
Key responsibilities
- Design, build and productionise Generative AI applications, taking solutions from prototype to deployment
- Build RAG pipelines, covering document ingestion, chunking, embeddings, vector stores, retrieval strategies and structured information extraction
- Design and integrate agentic workflows, including orchestration, tool use, planning and evaluation loops
- Build and integrate MCP (Model Context Protocol) servers, tools and agent interfaces
- Integrate LLMs into production applications and optimise prompts, model selection, latency and inference costs
- Develop APIs and services that expose AI capabilities to existing applications and business workflows
- Establish observability, monitoring and guardrails for LLM-powered applications
- Apply software engineering best practices including testing, CI/CD, version control and cloud deployment
What You’ll Bring
- 3+ years of professional experience in software engineering, AI engineering, machine learning engineering or a related field
- Strong hands-on experience with Python and modern software engineering practices
- Practical experience building and deploying LLM-powered applications.
- Strong understanding of RAG architectures, including chunking, embeddings, vector databases and retrieval optimisation
- Experience with agentic AI systems, tool calling/function calling and AI workflow orchestration
- Practical understanding of prompt engineering and LLM optimisation
- Experience developing and consuming APIs and integrating AI capabilities into production applications
- Experience working with cloud platforms and deploying production workloads
- Familiarity with CI/CD, automated testing, Git and software development best practices
- Understanding of AI evaluation, observability, monitoring and guardrails.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a pragmatic, engineering-focused mindset
- Good understanding of security, privacy and responsible AI principles.
- Strong communication skills in English
Nice to Have
- Hands-on experience with MCP (Model Context Protocol) and building MCP servers or tools
- Experience with frameworks such as LangChain, LangGraph, LlamaIndex or similar
- Experience with vector databases such as Pinecone, Weaviate, Qdrant, Milvus or pgvector
- Experience designing LLM evaluation frameworks and automated quality benchmarks
- Experience working with SaaS products, enterprise applications or complex business workflows
- Experience with subscription commerce, billing, marketplaces or IT channel ecosystems would be a plus
What’s in it for You
€3,500 – €4,200 Gross / Month, depending on experience. Remote working model with additional benefits include private health insurance, ticket restaurant, international training
