Senior Backend Developer

On behalf of our client, a fast-scaling tech startup, backed by innovation and driven by purpose, we are looking for a Senior Backend Developer to spearhead the build of a secure, AI-integrated multi-tenant platform. As a Senior Backend Developer, you’ll architect and implement the MVP, establish engineering standards, and collaborate cross-functionally with product managers, data scientists, and designers. 

Your Day to Day 

• MVP Development & Architecture: Design and implement a scalable, multi-tenant backend system with strict access controls.
• Workflow Engine: Build robust state machines to handle complex, multi-party interactions.
• Audit & Notification Systems: Create transparent audit trails and notification mechanisms for real-time communication.
• Database Modeling: Develop clean relational schemas and optimize data access using ORMs (SQLAlchemy, TypeORM, Hibernate, etc.).
• API & File Handling: Build secure APIs and integrate file handling & object storage solutions.
• Real-Time & External Integrations: Enable live status updates and connect to external intelligence feeds.
• DevOps & Cloud Infra: Set up Docker-based CI/CD pipelines and manage infrastructure via AWS/GCP/Azure using IaC.
• Future-Ready AI Integration: Work with ML teams on ETL pipelines, model integration, and explainability tooling.

Must have

• 4+ years of backend experience in production environments (Python, Node.js/TypeScript, or Java).
• Expertise in relational databases like PostgreSQL/MySQL and multi-tenant schema design.
• Strong command of ORMs, migrations, and performance tuning.
• DevOps capabilities: Docker, GitHub Actions/CircleCI, Terraform or equivalent.
• Cloud proficiency (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Security-first mindset: OAuth2, JWT, RBAC, file validation.
• Test-driven development and clean code practices.
• Excellent communication skills in English and ability to work independently.

Nice to have

• Domain knowledge in maritime, insurance, or regulated industries.
• Familiarity with geospatial data, message queues, Kubernetes, or serverless functions.
• Experience in ML pipelines and risk modeling.
• Past leadership or mentorship experience.
