Senior Software Engineer (Ruby on Rails) - Fixed Term Contract

Our client is a premium technology-driven travel company transforming the way luxury travel experiences are delivered across the Mediterranean. Their in-house engineering team builds the platforms and internal tools that power every stage of the customer journey, enabling operational excellence and exceptional client experiences.

As part of an ongoing technology transformation, they are looking for a Senior Software Engineer (Ruby on Rails) to join their backend engineering team and contribute to the evolution of their core business platform.

The Role

You'll join a collaborative product engineering team, taking ownership of features from concept through to production. This is a backend-focused full-stack role where you'll spend most of your time building and improving Ruby on Rails applications while contributing to frontend development whenever required.

Working closely with Product, Design, and Quality Engineering, you'll help deliver high-quality software through short development cycles, continuous deployment, and close collaboration with business stakeholders. You'll also leverage modern AI development tools to improve productivity, code quality, and delivery speed.

Key Responsibilities

• Own software features from planning and technical design through implementation, testing, deployment, and production support
• Build and enhance backend applications using Ruby on Rails
• Contribute to frontend development where required to deliver complete product features
• Design clean, maintainable, and scalable solutions that evolve with business needs
• Develop high-quality, well-tested code following engineering best practices
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to maintaining high engineering standards
• Collaborate closely with Product, Design, and Quality Engineering teams throughout the development lifecycle
• Leverage AI development tools to improve engineering efficiency and software delivery

What You'll Bring

• 3+ years of professional software engineering experience building web applications
• Strong commercial experience with Ruby on Rails and production backend systems
• Experience designing scalable applications and well-structured database models
• Good understanding of RESTful API design and backend architecture
• Experience working with PostgreSQL databases
• Familiarity with AWS cloud services and modern deployment environments
• Ability to balance speed, quality, and technical decisions pragmatically
• Experience working with AI-powered development tools or a genuine enthusiasm to adopt them
• Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams
• Fluent English and Greek

• Exposure to frontend technologies such as Next.js or modern JavaScript frameworks
• Experience working within e-commerce, travel, or hospitality platforms
• Appreciation for user experience and product design
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and modern software delivery practices

€4,000 – €4,785 Gross / Month, paid over 14 salaries, plus €121 meal vouchers for each month worked.
