Senior Systems & DevOps Engineer
Cloud Systems EngineerOur client is a multi-sector enterprise Group with a 25-year track record across diverse domains including education, certification, modern training, tourism/hospitality, and construction.
The internal Technology & Information Systems team is actively expanding to support the Group’s digital footprint and cloud transformation, building out a modern technology foundation for all portfolio operations.
The Role
You'll join the Technology & Information Systems team in a hands-on, high-ownership role that bridges systems administration, cloud operations, web hosting, automation, and DevOps practices. Reporting directly to the Director of Technology, you will act as a core platform authority with direct influence over environment design, operational stability, deployment workflows, and infrastructure processes across all business units.
This position is ideal for someone who wants to look beyond traditional system administration to help build the long-term cloud standards and runbooks for a growing Group.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage, monitor, and support server and cloud environments (primarily Azure), including dedicated servers and hosting infrastructure that powers the Group's digital services and websites.
- Perform system backups and recovery procedures, apply regular patching, implement basic system hardening, and maintain overall operational stability.
- Support application deployments, assist in building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, and automate routine operational tasks through scripting.
- Manage DNS, SSL certificates, reverse proxies, VPN configurations, basic network and firewall configurations, and user access control.
- Monitor the health and performance of applications, servers, and websites using modern logging and observability tools, leading incident investigation, root cause analysis, and troubleshooting across multiple system layers.
- Maintain clear operational documentation, including runbooks, environment configurations, and certificate inventories, while collaborating closely with software engineers, QA teams, business stakeholders, and external vendors.
What You'll Bring
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field. Candidates with a TEI degree or equivalent hands-on experience are equally encouraged to apply.
- 4+ years of hands-on professional experience in Systems Engineering, Infrastructure, Cloud Operations, DevOps, or a similar role.
- Strong knowledge of Linux and/or Windows Server administration, with practical experience managing production infrastructure in cloud environments, ideally Microsoft Azure.
- Experience supporting dedicated web hosting environments and production web applications, backed by solid networking fundamentals (DNS, SSL, TCP/IP, VPN, firewalls).
- Proficiency in Bash or PowerShell scripting, coupled with a practical understanding of Docker and containerized deployment workflows.
- A structured and proactive approach to infrastructure operations, with a strong focus on reliability, security, and continuous improvement, combined with the ability to communicate effectively and collaborate across cross-functional teams.
Nice to Have
- Experience with GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, GitLab CI, or similar automation tooling
- Familiarity with Terraform or Bicep
- Exposure to Kubernetes orchestration, as well as observability platforms like Prometheus, Grafana, or the ELK Stack
- Hands-on experience with Nginx, Apache, Plesk, reverse proxies, or PostgreSQL
What's in It for You
€2,800 – €3,800 Gross / Month, based on experience. This is a high-ownership role with direct impact, working as a foundational right hand to the Director of Technology as the Group shifts its hosted web assets onto modern cloud architecture.
You will gain wide-ranging exposure across diverse sectors, from large-scale certification and digital learning platforms to year-round resort development projects, within a stable yet agile tech function where your engineering decisions directly shape how the business operates and grows.
Even if you don't check every single box on this list, we still encourage you to apply, it is always worth having a conversation!
