Signal Processing Engineer (GNSS), Athens, Hybrid (3-2)
Electronics EngineerOur client is a Swiss fabless semiconductor company specialising in embedded GNSS positioning and wireless communication chips and modules — products relied on by millions of users worldwide. With around 850 employees across 21 countries, their Athens engineering site hosts the GNSS Measurement Engine (ME) team within the high-precision positioning R&D organisation. This role is open to grow the Athens team and add capacity to the wider cross-site engineering group.
The Role
You'll join a small, focused team of exceptionally skilled engineers and own GNSS receiver features end to end — from concept through modelling and simulation, embedded implementation, and verification to release. Working in embedded C on real silicon, you'll prototype algorithms in MATLAB/Python, write and adapt the drivers that bridge the chip's processor and its signal-processing hardware blocks, and debug on real hardware alongside the HW/ASIC designers. In your first months you'll get across a large, interdependent codebase, take on test-driven feature development, and start contributing to a cross-site agile team. Your output feeds the Positioning Engine that turns raw signal data into a position fix.
What You'll Bring
- Strong embedded C — able to read and work in a real, complex codebase from day one
- A signal-processing background with GNSS or Layer-1 (physical-layer) wireless knowledge — satellite comms, Wi-Fi or Bluetooth all relevant
- MATLAB and/or Python for algorithm modelling, simulation and verification
- Firmware development on hardware chips, with hands-on debugging and close collaboration with HW/ASIC designers on requirements and test routines
- Comfortable working in an agile/scrum environment
- A degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, DSP or Computer Science
- 2+ years' hands-on industry experience (domain knowledge prioritised over years)
- Pragmatic, detail-focused and analytical — a "makes it happen" engineer and strong team player
- A good communicator, fluent in English (international, multi-site team)
Nice to Have
- FPGA (VHDL/Verilog) and hardware emulation
- GNSS position-computation knowledge and an understanding of ME ↔ Positioning Engine interaction
- Python test scripting and full MATLAB → Python development-cycle experience
- A Master's or PhD in EE, Telecommunications or DSP
- Semiconductor industry or GNSS test-engineering experience
What's in it for You
€46,000 – €52,000 annual gross commensurate with experience, plus an annual cash bonus of up to 15%, a pension/savings plan with company matching up to 5%, and fully paid medical and life insurance. Enjoy a lunch allowance of €132/month (11 months), a parking spot or public-transport card, and a hybrid working arrangement with 3 days in the Athens office and 2 from home, plus up to 10 days/year working from abroad (EU/UK).
