Staff Engineer
Software EngineerOur client, a fast-growing fintech company serving millions of customers, is seeking a Staff Engineer to join its team based in Athens.
The Role
The Staff Engineer will join one of the company’s core product groups, responsible for key customer-facing features and the financial infrastructure behind them. The role shapes the technical direction of the group, connecting backend systems, financial infrastructure and client applications into a platform that is reliable, scalable and built for rapid iteration.
Key Responsibilities
- Architect and design modular, scalable and observable systems supporting high-volume experimentation and user engagement flows across the full stack
- Drive the cross-platform technical vision and roadmap, ensuring the architecture supports experimentation, rapid iteration and future business needs
- Set architectural standards, engineering best practices and operational excellence across multiple teams
- Mentor Senior Engineers and other team members, supporting technical excellence and career growth
- Identify root causes of systemic issues and architectural bottlenecks, defining short-term mitigations and long-term resolutions
- Contribute across the full software life cycle, from high-level system design to deployment and post-release monitoring
- Partner with Product Managers and Data Scientists to design technical solutions that unlock growth opportunities and optimise user funnels
What You’ll Bring
- Proven technical leadership and experience designing and architecting systems at scale
- A pragmatic approach, knowing when to build for scale and when to optimise for speed of learning
- A positive, solution-oriented mindset
- Strong planning and prioritisation skills, with the ability to translate business goals into actionable technical strategies across the stack
- Ability to share product insight with stakeholders, challenge product decisions with data, and act as a bridge between Engineering, Product and Data Science
- Clear and concise communication of complex technical, architectural and organisational topics to both technical and non-technical executives
- Experience in cross-functional environments, facilitating technical decision-making and resolving conflicts across teams
- Self-motivation, strong organisational skills and a focus on high-leverage work
- Comfort working with both strongly and dynamically typed languages, with architectural ability valued over any specific language
