A day in the life of a Cloud Platform EngineerThe ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the reliability, scalability, and efficiency of our cloud infrastructure and deployment processes. This role involves deploying updates and fixes, building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, automating tasks through scripting, performing root cause analysis for production incidents, and proactively resolving technical challenges within our cloud environment. The successful candidate will possess a strong problem-solving attitude and a collaborative team spirit.

Responsibilities

• Implement and deploy software updates and bug fixes across various cloud environments
• Design, build, and maintain robust and efficient Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipelines within the cloud infrastructure
• Develop and maintain automation scripts to streamline repetitive operational tasks and improve efficiency within the cloud platform
• Conduct thorough root cause analysis of production errors within the cloud environment and implement effective solutions to prevent recurrence
• Investigate, diagnose, and resolve technical issues across the cloud infrastructure and application stack

Skills and Qualifications

• A minimum of 5 years of combined work experience in a Software Development role or a related position
• A minimum of 2 years of experience specifically in a Cloud Platform Engineer role or a similar software engineering position with a strong focus on cloud operations and practical experience working with container orchestration platforms, specifically Kubernetes
• Proven proficiency in utilizing Git for version control and implementing effective Git workflows
• Solid understanding and practical experience with Shell scripting and Python for automation within a cloud context
• Sound knowledge of database systems and SQL for data management and troubleshooting in the cloud
• Comprehensive understanding and hands-on experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud provider
• Practical experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools, particularly Terraform, for managing cloud resources
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues within the cloud platform
• Would be a plus if there is experience in designing, building, and maintaining distributed systems within a cloud environment
