QA / Test Automation Lead

Our client is a fast-growing technology company building innovative digital products for customers across multiple markets. Their engineering organization is focused on scaling both technology and ways of working, with quality engineering becoming an increasingly important part of how products are designed, developed, and released.

As part of this continued growth, they are looking for a QA / Test Automation Lead to take a strategic and hands-on role in transforming quality across the engineering organization.

The Role

You'll play a central role in evolving the company's approach to software quality, helping teams move from reactive defect detection towards a proactive quality engineering culture. Rather than focusing solely on testing individual features, you'll build shared infrastructure, establish scalable testing standards, improve automation practices, and enable engineering and product teams to test more effectively themselves.

You'll act as a force multiplier across the organization, working closely with Engineering Leads, Product Managers, and senior stakeholders to make quality an integral part of the product development lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement shared testing infrastructure, including testing tools, mock services, test data generation, and E2E testing environments
• Build reusable frameworks and tooling that can be adopted across multiple engineering squads
• Establish testing standards, frameworks, and best practices across the organization
• Drive a testing-first culture and embed quality considerations earlier in the development lifecycle
• Collaborate with Product Managers to define meaningful test scenarios and identify quality risks
• Provide expert testing guidance during PRD and TDD discussions
• Track and review quality KPIs and lead regular QA metrics reviews
• Audit E2E test coverage against critical customer and business journeys
• Identify, investigate, and reduce flaky or unreliable automated tests

What You'll Bring

• Proven senior-level experience in software test automation and quality engineering
• Strong track record of designing and building scalable testing infrastructure
• Deep expertise in end-to-end testing frameworks and modern test automation tools
• Experience building mock services and testing solutions for complex integrations
• Strong understanding of test architecture, automation strategy, and quality engineering practices
• Experience defining testing standards and processes across engineering teams
• Ability to establish and promote a strong testing culture across an organization
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
• Ability to influence Engineering Leads, Product Managers, and senior leadership
• Strong strategic thinking combined with a hands-on approach to execution
• Ability to work independently, define priorities, and drive initiatives with minimal oversight

Nice to Have

• Experience working in a fast-growing technology or SaaS environment
• Experience creating self-service testing or internal developer tooling
• Experience with test data generation and management
• Familiarity with CI/CD environments and automated quality gates
