On behalf of our client, an innovative consultancy driving critical applications in a high-availability environment, we're seeking a VMware and Windows System Engineer
Your day to day
- Virtualization Infrastructure Management: Design, implement, and maintain VMware environments (vSphere, ESXi, vCenter), including creation and administration of virtual machines, templates, snapshots, and storage policies.
- Windows Server Administration: Manage Windows Server environments (2012 and later), covering Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, ADFS, PKI, and file services.
- System Maintenance and Optimization: Perform regular patching, upgrades, and maintenance on Windows and VMware systems while monitoring workloads to ensure performance, availability, and capacity efficiency.
- Backup, Recovery, and Compliance: Implement and support backup and disaster recovery solutions for both virtual and physical systems, ensuring security, compliance, and vulnerability remediation.
- Automation and Scripting: Automate routine administrative tasks using PowerShell or similar scripting languages to improve operational efficiency.
- Collaboration and Support: Work closely with cross-functional teams on deployments, troubleshooting, and enhancements, and provide escalation and on-call support for critical systems.
- Documentation and Audits: Maintain thorough documentation of system configurations and changes, and participate in audits, business continuity planning, and IT security initiatives.
Must have
- Virtualization: Strong experience with VMware technologies (vSphere, vCenter, vSAN, vMotion, DRS, HA).
- Storage and Backup: Familiarity with SAN/NAS systems and backup tools such as Veeam or Commvault.
- Scripting and Monitoring: Proficiency in PowerShell; experience with monitoring tools like vRealize Operations, SolarWinds, or Nagios.
- Networking and Security: Understanding of VLANs, firewalls, load balancers, and user access controls.
- ITIL and Cloud: Knowledge of ITIL change management processes and exposure to hybrid cloud environments (Azure, AWS, GCP).
