Data Scientist - NLP & Machine Learning

An AI research-and-product company building Greek-language NLP tools for legal and public-sector clients. The role exists to grow the modelling team ahead of a new contract with a major government agency.

The Role

You'll research, train, and evaluate transformer-based models for document classification, named-entity recognition, and summarisation in Greek. Within your first six months you'll publish an internal benchmark of three Greek NLP models and ship the NER module to production. You'll work in a cross-functional team with two ML engineers and a product manager.

What You'll Bring

• 3+ years of applied machine-learning or data-science experience
• Strong Python skills (NumPy, pandas, scikit-learn, PyTorch or TensorFlow)
• Experience fine-tuning or pre-training transformer models (BERT, RoBERTa, etc.)
• Solid understanding of NLP evaluation metrics and experiment tracking (MLflow, W&B)
• Ability to communicate results clearly to non-technical stakeholders

Nice to Have

• Research background or publications in NLP
• Experience with Greek-language corpora or multilingual models (XLM-R, mBERT)
• Familiarity with model deployment on cloud (FastAPI, SageMaker, or equivalent)
